Tomorrow 10 years

Exhibition that celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Museum of Tomorrow

In 2025, the Museum of Tomorrow will celebrate a decade of existence, consolidating itself as a space for science, sustainability, art, and innovation on the shores of Guanabara Bay. Since its inauguration in December 2015, the Museum – an initiative of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, managed by the Institute for Development and Management (IDG) – has transformed the region, become one of the city's main landmarks, and inspired future-oriented institutions worldwide through the FORMS (Futures-Oriented Museum Synergies) initiative.

Through an initiative of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, the Museum – managed by the Institute for Development and Management (IDG) since its inauguration in December 2015 – has inspired future-oriented institutions around the world through the FORMS (Futures-Oriented Museum Synergies) initiative.

With an average of one million visitors annually, the Museum of Tomorrow goes far beyond exhibitions: it promotes educational programs, scientific research, artistic residencies, innovation labs, and, since 2023, has housed the first UNESCO Chair based in a museum, dedicated to Literacy in the Future.

The Museum reflects its deep connection to the territory. Guanabara Bay, central to Brazilian history, is also a space of memory and ancestry. Its principles – sustainability and coexistence – guide the care for nature, people, and diversity.

In ten years, the Museum of Tomorrow has established itself as a symbol of possible futures, integrating science, art and innovation and reaffirming IDG's commitment to museums that inspire new ways of imagining tomorrow: the result of daily choices, of management committed to excellence and guided by best practices in governance and sustainability in museum spaces.
