about the program
This initiative fosters interdisciplinary exchange between contemporary artists and scientists, philosophers, and technologists, seeking to transcend the boundaries between art, science, technology, and social studies. Grounded in the core pillars of Sustainability, Technology, and Knowledge, the residency serves as a collaborative hub between artists and the museum. Beyond project development, the program features curated visits to museums and galleries, independent platforms, regular meetups, guest discussion sessions, and networking opportunities.
about the edition
This year, the residency program is part of the Museum of Tomorrow’s curatorial cycle, which takes the element of fire as its theme for reflection. The program centers on the incendiary and irrepressible aspects of new intelligences to investigate how data flows, algorithmic impositions, emerging language models, and the kinship between the human and non-human give rise to new aesthetic sensibilities.
Thinking about the survival of fire through digital light, the voracious consumption of information, and the ecosystemic heating brought about by technological progress, the residency is open to hosting six artistic research projects. We seek projects that present ways of composing and counterpointing, absorbing and reflecting upon these indicated cultural shifts. We invite artists and researchers to engage with the following questions:
- How can art navigate the heat of the datasphere?
- Where does invention reside within the artificial, and artifice within invention?
- What is the role of art when its uniqueness is called into question?
- How can we imagine worlds where the organic and inorganic intersect without the total dissolution of either side/
The following will be selected:
- 1 artist from Rio de Janeiro;
- 1 artist from the Southeast region;
- 1 artist from the North region;
- 1 artist from the Northeast region;
- 1 artist from the Center-West region;
- 1 artist from the South region;
