CATCH-ME: no presence will be ignored
Data represent the new and main raw material of modern society in this Information Age. In large volume, they are able to transmit a message or generate information to create new knowledge. However, these data are like tracks with information on what we do, buy, want or like. These data are collected and used and we often do not realize it. Therefore, Tomorrow's Activities Laboratory (LAA, in Portuguese), dedicated to innovation and experimentation, presents the interactive exhibition "CATCH-ME: no presence will be ignored"
The content includes videos, data from visitors captured by sensors, graphics produced in real time and a lot of interaction with the public. "The exhibition Catch-me deals with the importance of data in the Information Age. In the Industrial Age, there were not many references to improve things. Today we have data emerging from several sources: cell phones, places we go to, the computer where we access the internet. Knowing how they are generated and understanding how to use these data can directly affect our lives; and we will encourage visitors to think about it”, explains Marcela Sabino, director of the LAA and curator of the exhibition.
"CATCH-ME: no presence will be ignored" will present to the public the idea that we produce digital footprints and that the data produced by our interference are used in the construction of new knowledge. These concepts will be introduced through playful and exploratory environments, where visitors can interact with projections, sounds and graphics that show data collected in real time, revealing how the sensors capture the presence of the public in the laboratory. Along with this, texts and videos from experts will address topics such as "What is data, information and knowledge?", "Internet of Things" and "Big Data"; and tablets will display views generated by the flow of people in the world.
Museum of Tomorrow is an Applied Sciences museum which explores the opportunities and challenges which humanity will be forced to tackle in the coming decades from the perspective of sustainability and conviviality. Launched December 2015 by Rio de Janeiro City Hall, Museum of Tomorrow is a Culture asset from Rio's Secretary of Culture currently managed by Instituto de Desenvolvimento e Gestão (IDG). Example of a well-succeeded partnership between public power and private initiative, it has already received over three million visitors since opening. With Santander Bank as a Master Sponsor and a wide network of partner sponsors as Shell, IBM, IRB-Brasil RE, Engie, Grupo Globo and Instituto CCR, the museum was originally conceived by Roberto Marinho Foundation.
