Artistic Performance

'KA' with Anna Maria Maiolino

In KA, the artist, members of her studio, and invited participants walk across a surface covered with eggs while embodying the ancestral gesture of raised hands—a millennia-old symbol of surrender, disarmament, and the plea for mercy.

Maiolino transforms the performance into a poetic-political manifesto that denounces contemporary violence, while also reactivating its political origins in the 1980s, when it emerged as a gesture of repudiation of torture in Brazil.

The initiative is organized by the Luisa Strina gallery in partnership with the Museum of Tomorrow, with sponsorship from BNDES.
