Innovation Lab

A platform for experimentation and collaboration dedicated to the convergence of knowledge.

Innovation Is a Human Way of Doing

Presented by Santander, the Museum's master sponsor, LAA is the Museum of Tomorrow's experimentation, prototyping, and innovation area. LAA is a platform for transdisciplinary connections in art, science, and technology. The laboratory's mission is to prototype a more sustainable and social future using traditional and exponential technologies with a transdisciplinary approach

Bridging the gap between thinking and doing, between imagining and realizing, the LAA explores opportunities and challenges in a world of continuous and increasingly rapid change. The LAA has two main focuses: the effects and outcomes of exponential technologies—such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, robotics, genomics, 3D printing, nanotechnology, and biotechnology—and the future of specific topics, such as work, urbanization, manufacturing, and food

To develop these topics, the space is divided into four areas of action:

Art and Technology Program, Activities Program, Artistic Residency (Fellowship) and Exhibitions

In its early years, the Lab catalyzed the introduction and adoption of new tools, processes, and innovations to inspire its users to move beyond being mere consumers of their real and digital worlds and become creators

The LAA Creative Residency program selects innovators from around the world to work on emerging projects in their field for up to a year. Participants are chosen based on the quality of their work, their ability to promote social or environmental impact, and their ability to develop projects in transdisciplinary settings

The laboratory also serves as a platform for researchers, startups, companies, and creatives to share projects and ideas. In its temporary exhibitions, the space displays prototypes and studies on new materials, as well as creations by national and international artists, encouraging the prototyping of solutions that will impact their lives and the world, thus helping to create preferable futures—one of the Museum's central themes
