Copylight Factory

In Copylight, visitors are invited to copy a copy of a copy of a lamp, and see how it transforms into something completely new: an original lamp, which reveals the problems of the current copyright system.

Copylight Factory is an interactive work that exposes the problems of the traditional copyright system, exploring the boundary between copy and original. In Copylight, visitors are invited to copy a copy of a copy of a lamp and see how it transforms into something completely new: an original lamp, revealing the problems of the current copyright system.

In the assembly experience, visitors to the Tomorrow's Activities Laboratory (LAA) will create a cube-shaped lamp using translucent paper that reproduces lamp designs with well-known designs. Over three production stations, the creator will be free to choose the reproduction they desire and will participate in the entire assembly process.

Once completed, the lamp will be installed on an electrified grid at the LAA along with other lamps also created by visitors, which will then become part of the work.
