The Museu do Amanhã continues its journey with photography, inviting the public to a sensitive immersion in the world's largest tropical rainforest. The exhibition "Presences in the Amazon: a visual diary by Bob Wolfenson" presents a collection of images and sensory experiences that bring Rio de Janeiro closer to the Amazon, revealed through the attentive and poetic gaze of one of the great names in Brazilian photography, who is celebrating 55 years of his career.
The photographs were taken during the filming of the web series Amazônia: Juntos Fazemos a Diferença (2024), directed by Bob Wolfenson alongside singer Gaby Amarantos.
Organized into three curatorial themes: Forest, which presents the territory, with rivers, trees, rain, and variations of light; Presence, which highlights people, dwellings, and work practices; and Magic Light, in which markets, fairs, products, boats, and daily flows prove that the Amazon goes beyond its geographical limits.
The exhibition reveals the Amazon from the inside. Rivers, trees, rain, and variations in light share space with people, dwellings, and urban life, constructing a narrative in which territory and life coexist inseparably.
The experience is enhanced by an ambiance that incorporates natural materials, lighting that follows the cycle of the day, and sensory elements such as original forest sounds and aromas reminiscent of the earth after the rain. There is also a space with notes, phrases, and travel records from the photographer, a poetic installation about his creative process.
Curated by Cecilia Bedê, the exhibition is produced by Tantas Projetos Culturais and TM1 Brand Experience, sponsored by Vale, and includes a free educational program.
