The project began with the international initiative With One Voice, led by the NGO Streetwise Opera, in England, during the London Olympics in 2012. Led in Brazil by the NGO People's Palace Project, the project spent 3 years researching and fostering partnerships.
The result was the creation of the One Voice Choirs and the development of a special program that integrated the Olympic cultural celebration in the Caribbean capital, with the support of the organizations British Council, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Macquarie Group Foundation in 2016.
The first contact with the IDG resulted in the deepening of the project at the Center State Park Library. When this was closed, the project moved to the Museum of Tomorrow where members met weekly for regular rehearsals with a choir leader.
Participants in the meetings sing, share stories, and find support and comfort through art and activities developed by the Museum through dialogue with various partners, including the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Human Rights and the NGO People's Palace Project.
In addition to the discussions held in the weekly meetings, two ongoing activities are offered throughout the year, which will address, from different perspectives, the identities constructed through contact between people and territories, creating narratives, memories, and affections that are directly linked to the way we live, see, and are seen in the world.
