The basic education training program is designed and implemented by the Museum of Tomorrow and the British Council, with sponsorship from IBM, to encourage vibrant science education, bringing schools, museums and universities closer together.
More than 700 teachers have already participated in the program and together they teach 261,000 students in more than 1,200 Brazilian schools.
Each meeting includes lectures on fundamental science topics, components of the inquiry-based teaching approach, and interactions between teachers focused on sharing experiences. At the end, a certificate of participation will be issued to all who attended at least 75% of the training—four meetings.
The program also encourages the formation of a network among Basic Education teachers across the country with a focus on multiplying the program's content, other opportunities for teaching careers, and topics on the relationship between gender and science.
